Overview
The Livestock Prices module monitors prices for key livestock species — cattle, shoats (sheep and goats), and camels — at pastoral markets across the region. For pastoral households, livestock prices are a critical livelihood indicator.
Terms of Trade
Analysts often track the terms of trade between livestock and cereals (e.g., how many kilograms of maize one shoat can buy). Deteriorating terms of trade indicate pastoral households are losing purchasing power even if livestock prices appear stable.
